Ingredients

Scale

For the Peanut Butter Bars:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For the Topping:

  • 24 chocolate kisses (unwrapped)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prepare the Pan

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.

Step 2: Make the Peanut Butter Dough

  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  2. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until fully combined.

Step 3: Bake the Bars

  1. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  2. Bake for 20-22 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 4: Add the Chocolate Kisses

  1. Remove from the oven and immediately press the chocolate kisses into the bars, spacing them evenly.
  2. Let the bars cool completely so the chocolate sets.

Step 5: Slice & Serve

  • Once cooled, slice into 16 squares and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make it extra chewy: Add 2 tbsp milk to the dough for a softer texture.
  • Chocolate swap: Try mini peanut butter cups or chocolate chunks instead of kisses.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
