These soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies are dressed up for the holidays with festive sprinkles, white chocolate chips, and a hint of wintery flavor. Perfect for holiday cookie exchanges or as a treat with a cup of hot cocoa!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, for a wintery twist)
  • 1 cup (175g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup (90g) white chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup (40g) festive holiday sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugars:
    • In a large bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the Eggs and Vanilla:
    • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Mix the Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Fold in the Add-Ins:
    • Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and holiday sprinkles. Save a few sprinkles and chips for topping if desired.
  6. Scoop and Shape:
    • Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers look slightly underbaked (they will firm up as they cool).
  8. Cool and Decorate:
    • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. If desired, press extra sprinkles or chips into the tops while the cookies are still warm for a festive touch.

Notes

  • For added holiday flair, use peppermint-flavored white chocolate chips or add ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract to the dough.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Add a dusting of powdered sugar on top for a “snowy” winter wonderland effect!
